Dasavatharam Exclusive Movie Review!!!

Movie- Dasavatharam
Cast- Kamal Hasan, Asin, Napoleon, Mallika Sheravat
Director- K S Ravikumar
Music- Himesh Reshmiya

Kollywood’s mega budget Dasavatharam finally reached big screen, in an all India release here today. There were huge queues outside various multiplexes in Chennai and shows were in advance house full thanks to online ticket booking. This was the hype and craze of movie in Tamilnadu.
Movie was a treat for those who believe in experimental cinema and some added filmi masala which included special effect stunt scene, item number with mallika Sheravat and 10 avtars of Kamal Hassan ensured that viewers will go to cineplex atleast once out of curiosity. The movie does not disappoint any one. Kamal Hassan is one of the most gifted and skillful actors in Indian cinema. His acting prowess has been praised both in Bollywood and Kollywood. In this movie again Kamal Hassan has performed beautifully the uphill task of playing 10 different characters with versatile background quite authentically. He is a superb actor when it comes to changing his appearances. His gate up of 95 years old lady, Scientist, Terrorist, Telugu CBI officer, all are conveyed with astonishing ease.
Movie is all about a research product which is very deadly.if consumed, not only for the one who consumes it but for the people in near vicinity. This reseach product is changed with a parcel in shear confusion and then the scientist Kamal Hassan has to come to India illegally in the parcel box of the flight. Terrorist Kamal Hassan follows the scientist Kamal Hassan to India and there are frequent clashes with high profile action packed stunt scenes. One Judo master Japanese Kamal Hassan adds spice to the stunt scenes of the movie. Story revolves around the search of the parcel by scientist kamal Hassan and terrorist Kamal Hassan which is with an old lady avtar of Kamal Hassan.
Movie is a mix of astonishing acting of Kamal Hassan, good music by Himesh Reshamiya and technological excellence. Asin has been ordinary and ineffective in this movie. All other characters had very little to offer.
Overall a must watch for all cine lovers.
Rating- 3.5/5

  1. SHEKHAR Says:

Actor Kamal Hassan’s quest for Oscar award is widely known; that he will stoop to any low in that direction is proved by his latest film titled ‘Dasavataram’. Having seen this film in a prominent cinema hall recently, I feel disgusted to say that the film deserves to be totally banned from public exhibition on several counts. First and foremost, the word ‘Dasavataram’ is considered sacred and very much part of Hindu culture relating to Lord Vishnu’s reincarnations primarily for destruction of evil; the word any sane man born and brought up in Hindu culture easily understands. It is ironical that this actor has dared to title his film with the noble name which invokes instant veneration and what one actually see or feel is narration of his version of events essayed in his perverted mind, in the name of freedom of expression, without caring two hoots about the impact it is going to make on public mind especially in India. This so-called versatile actor has miserably failed in his attempt to portray ’secularism’ as he supposes and understands by choosing to portray other major communities in the country like Christians, Muslims and Sikh as do-gooders and that only Hindus are religious fanatics, right from the very first frame of the film. He has further shown that individuals belonging to international communities including NRIs are bent upon leashing acts of terror on fellow human beings in other parts of the globe, for the sake of gathering wealth and in the name of science & technology. In his colossal misadventure he has even involved the current President of the United States of America by mimicry as well as the known atheist Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in his current official position, as also a fleeting portrayal of past Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha by showing her aerial survey of Tsunami hit areas during December 2004, all obviously for the sake of seeking cheap publicity.

The picture titled ‘Dasavataram’ is truly an example of gross misuse of freedom of expression, not confining to ethical standards expected of an esteemed actor like Kamal Hassan and his reputed team, and as such it should be banned in toto from public exhibition.

  2. Rani Subassandran Says:

So all of us Hindus know what ‘Dasavatharam’ is. But what not all of us human beings know is the fact that we are fast losing humanitarian concepts in life.

Kamal’s recent movie is a GREAT depiction of that very theme. I have never seen one movie displaying such a multitude of concepts before. Contrary to shallow and unthought of belief, Kamal’s movie does not demean Hindus and place those of other religions on a pedestal. The religious connotations in the movie must be looked at from a wider perspective, which is another central theme in the movie : the fact that we humans are so deeply steeped in religion which sometimes leads to the failure of one to look at all humans as equal. Furthermore, the detestation to caste overtones are also evident in the movie, which is truly admirable.
Most importantly, is Kamal’s belief in Hindu concepts such as karma and reincarnation, which itself goes a long way in proving that he does not look down upon Hinduism.
I notice that almost everyone does not realise the fact that the movie itself was founded upon the chaos theory. The way Kamal has connected the ‘butterfly effect’ in his movie depicting 10 roles is truly a feat.
However, it takes the truly intellectual to grasp the beauty of Kamal’s movie and those who aren’t up to par can only be forgiven for their misfortune.

  3. Arun Says:

I completely agree with Rani here. It is easy to condemn a work such as this which is full of radical and thought provoking concepts by harping on a wholly unrelated point. ‘Dasavatharam’ as literally defined in sanskrit is nothing but 10 roles and this is what the actor intended to protray which I think he did in a fantastic manner which no Indian actor can come close to doing. We tend to get mired in our unnecessarily complicated beliefs and what Kamal has done in this movie is admirable in tying together science and relegion. Like all great works, this too will remain condemned for now until the greater truth prevails but true intellectuals and good human beings will indeed realise that this movie, for once in the otherwise banal world of stereotypical Indian movies, brings in an element of freshness and ideas for which Kamal Hassan must be commended for and not condemned.

  4. Sarin Says:

The movie is simply superb in many angles. The way in which the movie revolves is very interesting. The haotic theory and the Butterfly effected is depicted superbly . The 12th century story is being shown for explaining the same theories. But many lack to understand the importance snd wonder why they have shown the 12th century incident.I would say ,please go throught the details of the theories and then watch the movie properly.
And , moreover Kamal has done all the roles with much ease , and he did the Telugu person role with such ease and humour that I was just Wowed! …
And to those who criticise the movie and Kamal , I have only 1 thing to say ..A movie is the product of hard work of many people and such class movies which has all elements of a movie should be perceived whole - heartedly .
I respect the story and the sequence shown in the movie and most importantly the great actors9in fact one single actor did all the 10 roles)..
Hats offto all the movie team !
